Hon Mike Omogbehin..... MHR Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency
Hon Prince Mike Omogbehin was legitimately bestowed with the mandate to represent the people of Okitipupa/Irele Federal constituency as a member of the Federal House of Representatives, courtesy of an overwhelming victory of March 28, 2015 National Assembly election in the constituency. There have been ups and downs as his unequivocally salient victory was inadvertently challenged at the Tribunal, and subsequently at the appeal court.
Though, it was finally laid to rest on 9th of November 2015 by the Appeal Court led by Justice Muheed Owoade. In his Judgment, Justice Owoade held that the petitioner only tendered “hearsay” evidence and also failed to call enough witnesses to prove his allegations of multiple voting and other electoral irregularities in the election. The court, therefore, held that Adeniyi was duly elected even as the appellant was fined N30,000. Omogbehin while speaking after the judgment said: “the Judiciary has proved beyond any reasonable doubt that its truly independent, and has remained the kismet of common but compos mentis denizen of the country Nigeria. Also, the Judiciary has reaffirmed that the good people of Irele/ Okitipupa freely and overwhelmingly voted for me and my great Party and, no one can steal the mandate through the back door. The victory would enable me to concentrate and give quality representation to the people of my constituency”. He therefore called on the petitioner to sheath his sword, so that they can move and metamorphose the constituency into a fortuitously optimal El Dorado.
However, the petitioner called few hours after the judgment to congratulate the Crown Prince of Ikale Land. What a spectacle of genuine spirit of sportsmanship!
Despite being the first federal Lawmaker to be dragged to the Tribunal and Appeal Court in Ikale land, it has not deterred him from the redemption of his promises. He has sponsored free coaching lesson for secondary school students of Irele Local Government. He played a leading role in a motion recently moved concerning the total blackout in Ondo South senatorial district, which was given a supportive voice by his colleagues.
“Kako,” as a humorous epithet that constantly wallows in the mouth of his admirers, has hit the ground running in spite of the hurdles of Tribunal and Appeal Court. His policies and programmes so far have been tailored towards addressing the challenges Youths and Students are facing .
Prince Mike Omogbehin's careful selection of aides that birthed men who are sincerely pertinacious and dedicated towards delivering effective representation to the people of Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency, and are characteristic of high integrity on the account of making impacts in their various disciplines, signals his expertise in sharing representations based on the supposedly trending milieu of equity that benefited the two Local Governments he represents. In effect, the records and in-depth investigations revealed that Omogbehin is the only federal lawmaker in Ikale land that didn’t short-change his people when it comes to appointing aides.
In accordance with his SACRED TRIPOD COVENANT, his constituents have been feeling the impact of effective representation and leadership which they actually voted for. Pursuant to his political leading enablement and magnanimous sagacity, not fewer than ten designate Lawyers were given scholarships for the 2015/2016 academic session in Nigeria Law School. This gesture one of the beneficiaries described as uncommon among Nigerian Politicians. In addendum, another beneficiary, Akinteye Noah said the scholarship will go a long way to be of help to him, and described Omogbehin as a "passionate leader, humble and a man of his words, who has the milk of human kindness flowing in his vain."
Talking of grassroots penetration, the link between him and his people can’t be down-played. Their needs have been his priority as exemplified in the mechanized borehole projects executed at Korede and Adewinle Villages. To laud this indelible and monumental landmark, some villagers made a retrospect as to having no access to borehole water before then. In order to encourage the students, not less than 2300 students benefitted from his bursary scheme. This is capable of provoking an unprecedented accolade! Omogbehin who assumed office at a time of global financial straits, coupled with the election petitions that befell him, was still able to place the welfare of the students above other contending priorities. He is on the trail to build libraries in some selected Secondary Schools across Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, with their technical surveys, prototype, and master piece in place, indicating that work will soon commence in earnest.
Omogbehin, during his electioneering campaign, repeatedly echoed like a memorised literary verse to the people of Okitipupa and Irele Local Governments that he wanted to offer them an EFFECTIVE REPRESENTATION. The Ikale Prince has not only been effective, he is indeed an energetic and hardworking Legislator who possesses progressive value and is concerned about the development of Ikale Land.
Prince Mike Omogbehin is a committed and impassioned Lawmaker who has spent just nine one year in office with achievements surfacing in a proliferation of fancy frill.
